Miami Marathon 2010
Arnold and I drove down to South Beach the day before the race to get our packets with our bib numbers, free shirt (woohoo), timing chip, etc. We walked around a little by the beach and along the boardwalk.
Here's where Arnold and I went to do the packet pickup. There were just heaps O people.
We had a nice lunch on South Beach and got bored counting the Ferraris. I think they were giving the red ones away.
We got up insanely early (3:20) to drive down and wait for the race to start (around 6:15). The crowd was enormous.

Ok, so I had a little trouble keeping the phone steady here. The people were packed in like sardines. 18,000 of them were running. I don't know how many spectators, but it seemed like millions. The pretty modern art on the right is me bouncing over the McArthur Causeway. Even though you can't tell what it is I thought it looked pretty :)
On the left I took a break to take a picture around mile five. The people here are waiting to use the porta-pottys.
This bridge is the Venician Causeway. You can see the toll gate down at the end. Fortunately they weren't requiring exact change.
I was dying here and by mile 20 I just sooo wanted to quit.
I don't remember my first marathon being this hard. The second was far easier. I think I'll just blame the heat and humidity ;) Of course, all that really matters in the end is that I made it. Of the masses of people who started at the starting line only 2911 did the whole marathon...and I was one of them. Even crazier, we're already signed up for next year :)
